- Notify your friends, businesses and family that you’re moving house

2 Weeks before Moving day
- Anything that isn’t absolutely essential on moving day should be packed into boxes. Try to label boxes with the room they should be put into

- Contact your doctors and dentists and arrange for your files to be moved to your new health providers
- Contact your insurance providers to update your home insurance, car insurance and any other policies you have
- You may want to consider booking a storage unit if you don’t think all of your items will fit into your new house, or if there is going to be a delay moving into your new home
- Speak to your new neighbours and make sure there will be space outside your new home for the moving van
The Week leading up to the moving day
- Confirm with your solicitor and estate agents that everything is going to plan and to schedule
- Pack valuables and important documents in a safe place to take in the car with you
- Finish up any packing, making sure to pack a “travel bag” full of essentials that you may need on the day such as a change of clothes, snacks or toiletries
- Find out when you receive the keys to your new home
Moving Day
- Strip the beds and take down the curtains
- Disconnect appliances that you are taking with you like the cooker, washing machine and dishwasher, etc
- Direct your moving company and tell them what needs taking and what doesnt
- Swap keys with the new owner
- Check the house over one final time, make sure you have got everything and then relax. Lee Atkins Removals will take care of the rest
